The Tai Yo script, also known as Lai Tay, is a new script recently added to the Unicode Standard as part of version 17.0. It is a traditional writing system that was historically used to write the Tai Yo language in northern Vietnam. The script is an abugida, meaning that each character represents a consonant with an inherent vowel sound, and additional vowel signs are used to modify this sound. Unlike many other Tai scripts, Tai Yo is written vertically from top to bottom, with columns running from right to left, a characteristic believed to be influenced by Chinese writing.
Below you will find all the characters that are in the 'Tai Yo' unicode script category. Currently there are 55 characters in this category.
